BYROGLYPHICS

March 2nd, 2009

Byroglyphics is the Online gallery for UK Artist/Illustrator RUSS MILLS. His work is a hybrid of traditional media and digital imaging, focusing on human idiosyncrasies both physical and emotional resulting in distorted forms both subtle and extreme.

ENCORE

February 3rd, 2009

I recently took a trip to Las Vegas with Angie, and we stayed at the Wynn. If you ever have a chance to be inspired by a hotel. I would recommend staying. I think I even liked the Encore even more, which is the sister building of the Encore. The casino of the Encore was amazing with it’s beautifully hand-blown bright red chandeliers that hung throughout.

AGENT ADJACENT RADIO

February 3rd, 2009

In the mid-future, Agent Adjacent will be making some major changes. I talked a bit back about taking some leisure design time off to recharge the batteries and concentrate on the usual 9 to 5 design. The biggest change is that, I will be converting Agent Adjacent into an internet radio station. I won’t give too much away, but it will be similar to my music postings along with some others. I will also be revamping jerodgibson.com into more of a steady portfolio platform. As much as I enjoy doing experimental design, time isn’t there at the moment. Working at a startup has made me enjoy the process of long-term big projects that you can really appreciate once their complete. I’ll keep you posted in the near future. Cheers!

BONOBO

January 4th, 2009

If I were to ever own my own lounge, this cetainly would be a part of it’s soundtrack. Bonobo has a great vibe that is certainly essential in any relaxed atmosphere.

DESIGNING SABBATICAL

January 4th, 2009

I have been taking some time off of my casual design projects and have been working mostly on web-based design pieces. In the next few months I’ll be exploring design options and will continue on my personal creative path. In the mean time, I will be updating Agent Adjacent with inspirational pieces. Hope everyone had a good and safe holiday season, and I hope to hear from you all in tghe months to come.

Great Hajime tribute by Sakke Soini.

A BOOK OF HUMAN LANGUAGE

December 10th, 2008

As a member of the influential L.A. hip-hop group Freestyle Fellowship and on his solo debut, Aceyalone pushed the boundaries of lyrical possibilities via tricky cadences and abstract wordplay. Independent of any major-label restraints, A Book of Human Language, Aceyalone’s sophomore effort, is an attempt to “redefine your hip-hop guidelines,” as the MC creates a highly conceptual album based on no less than the whole of human experience. Since this record is a “book,” each song is a chapter that builds onto the song prior and lays the foundation for the next, all made conceptually cohesive with interludes, narratives, and the dark, jazzy production of longtime collaborator Mumbles. With Human Language, Aceyalone manages to insightfully and provocatively cover a universe of subjects, delivered in poetically complex rhymes. In other words, it’s exactly what one who is familiar with Aceyalone and Freestyle Fellowship would expect. J Tai

TRUE BLOOD

November 20th, 2008

Always loved the work of Alan Ball. His new series True Blood cetainly follows in the line of American Beauty and Six Feet Under showing nothing less of sex, drugs and dysfunctional families. The opening sequence is from Digital Kitchen, and the song is Bad Things by Jace Everett.

MOUNTAINHEAD

November 16th, 2008

Very beautiful piece by Jared Nickerson  that can be found on Behance and Designs by Humans. I love the fantastic machine style mixed with the anime. Would definatley like to a print of this someday. Take a look at some of his other work, you will be very impressed.

MAD BLUNTED JAZZ

October 31st, 2008

Okay, this album is a little older, but it still holds as a fantastic downtemo album. Mad Blunted Jazz is DJ Cam’s first US release, and the melodies are wonderfully dreamy with jazzy chords liberally applied. “Underground Vibes” stays there and languishes in the beautiful, murky gloom (the vocal sample is wonderfully apt). “Dieu Reconnaitra Les Siens” brings things back to a more upbeat feel, featuring a sample from Deee-Lite. The title track ( Mad Blunted Jazz) is still of today one of my favorite songs.
